Second Choice - Review
Christianity Renewal Magazine, March 2002
Daniel's Babylonian experience is most often associated with the notion of "No Compromise".
Ironic, then, that Daniel's survival in exile depended as much on knowing when to
compromise as when not to.
Viv Thomas's imaginative book explores the life of Daniel and the challenges it
presents to us in the places and situations that compromise the perfect life we
thought God guaranteed us.
We battle in the captivity of a 'Second Choice' environment. It is these very circumstances,
Thomas argues, that bring us to maturity in Christ. Christian growth is negotiated
in the dark alleys and bumpy lanes of real-world lives. Original, insightful and
timely, Second Choice challenges triumphalist assumptions and offers wisdom and
encouragement to real-world disciples. Excellent.
